I am in love with this 5-minute craft! To add a little oomph to your decor, simply pick out your favorite washi tape and get to work. I removed the switch cover, washed it quickly and made sure it was really dry. Then found a tape pattern from my stash that coordinated with the wall color in the kitchen. Next, I covered the plate with straight lines of tape, and made sure to match up the stripes. Then I just cut a slit in the hole for the switch and folded the edges of the tape toward the back of the cover, and did the same for the screw holes. Then make sure everything is really smooth and put the cover back up. Tada - this is the best 5-minute project I've done all month.
I may have gone a little crazy with some other patterns and switch covers in the house. The good news is, it is a low commitment craft. If you don't like it, just pull the tape off and try something else. I love the low tack of the washi tape for this very reason!
Now, get creative, get your tape out, and add some custom touches to your home. I think mixing patterns of tape, and trying different layouts would be really fun... and lord knows I have enough tape to do something different on every switch plate in the house!
